10 Steps To A Successful Crowdfunding Campaign
Do you remember when you were a child and you believe that you could do anything… Be anything but got caught dream big and have it all. Do you remember the self confidence that you had as a child! However, the older you got, your self confidence began to fade especially when you were hit by life’s downers.
You can see in the example below it’s like a huge funnel that begins with your dreams, wishes, desires, plans, and needs… Ending in a big red no!
You can also observe under the red no is the symbol for money… All around this money (and the lack there of) connotes foreboding phrases like no funding, large debt, unpaid bills and financial despair.
In the past one of the only ways to obtain funding was through bank loans, grants, and or borrowing from friends and family.
You Need A Yes…for the money to start flowing to begin the process of building your Big Dream!
Today…if you have a “Big Dream” there’s another opportunity for funding… Have you ever considered Crowdfunding?
What is Crowdfunding…Crowdfunding is an alternative way to raise capital when funding a project, starting a business or launching a new product. It is vital to your success to go through all of this book; to research and check out rewards-based crowdfunding sites.
You might have considered Crowdfunding but were frightened–off by people who were very uninformed and ill prepared to even begin a campaign.
So excuses you might have heard include:
- It’s too hard
- You have to beg
- You have to be a nonprofit
- I’m afraid that I will fail
For years I’ve been studying successful Crowdfunding campaigns that have raised large amounts of money. All of these campaign had 10 things in common:
- Knowledge about Crowdfunding
- Purpose
- Something of value
- Plan, direction
- Clear and concise message
- Team of helpers
- Video
- Followers, a tribe
- Communication skills
- Determination
I also studied the campaigns that failed to raise any or very little funds. Overall it is noted that approximately 60% of all Crowdfunding Campaigns fail to reach their funding goals. My #1 reasoning for such a high percentage of failures would be lack of knowledge. Without knowledge, knowing what it is you need to do, when, and with whom…you are setting yourself up for failure.
There is another way to look at this… What are you hoping to gain from your campaign (besides funding)? If you are looking for exposure for your product…your campaign is a great way to introduce your product to your friends, family and potential customers.
My best advice is to be prepared and study like-product or programs, that best resemble yours.
